We’re pausing service while we make some changes. Our last day of service until March will be February 1st.

A little over two years after we began working on opening Fable in Beacon Hill, we’re making the choice to close at the end of this month; but we’re not closing permanently and we’d love to share our plans with you.

Before we get into any of that, most importantly, thank you to all of you who have supported us and made Fable possible on any level. Of course we believe delicious food, coffee, wine, and beer are important. But the most essential thing we can offer is a place where folks can do what they’re passionate about and create the lives they want, and a place where people can be seen, heard, and taken care of. However you contributed to our pursuit of that, thank you.

The realities faced by the hospitality industry in Seattle are, to say the least, troubling. We’ve seen a number of heartbreaking closure announcements already this year from friends and neighbors, and our hearts go out to them and all affected by these losses. We believe that to be successful in this time without sacrificing our values, our hospitality, service, and offerings need to be exceptional. After much self-reflection, it’s apparent that our current offerings and service don’t fully fulfill on our values.

Increased pressures from recent changes in the economics of doing business in Seattle, paired with the onslaught of traditional challenges faced by the hospitality industry, make limping along in the red each month and offering something just “good enough” untenable.

With all of that said, we’re hopeful and confident in the belief that a world that works for everyone is possible. We believe there’s a path forward where we can fulfill our values and create something really wonderful and delicious within Fable while also being financially sustainable.

Our intention is to close for most of the month of February and reopen before March. In that time, we’ll complete an entirely reworked menu focused on shareable, hearty, and approachable food that reflects our team’s backgrounds. We’ll also be training with our team on service and hospitality adjustments, and make changes to improve the functionality of our space for both our team and guests.

Our commitment is for Fable to be a welcoming and cozy cafe where we serve the most delicious and lovely coffee, wine, beer, and food that we possibly can.

We’d love for you to be part of this. We invite you to come along with us in the process of completing Fable as it is and opening a Fable that’s something new. If you have ideas or feedback, or anything to share, we’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment, slide into our DM’s, on Instagram or send us an email at hello@fabeallday.com.

We look forward to hosting you on the other side. Until then, our last day of service will be this Saturday, February 1st. We love you and will see you soon, Beacon Hill.
